Phil Collins, a rockstar from the Great Britain, turned solo after the dissolvement of his team that he belonged to Genesis, is the No.1 artist who was featured the most in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. His songs were featured in 3 GTA series making Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories one of those in the series. The intriguing trivia is, Phil was starred as a minor role character in that game, voiced by himself and making appearnace as himself.

He makes an appearance as himself as a touring artist to Vice City and his life is threatened by many lunatics in the city and is making a personal request to the protagonist of the game, Victor Vance to be provided with the security while on his tour to Vice City, making sure his ‘In the Air Tonight’ concert not turning into a swan song where Phil would really feel it in the air.

Flash FM is back in the franchise. Flash FM in ‘Vice City Stories’ is only featuring the pop songs released before the year of 1984, because it would make sense with the game’s chronological setting in the span of 80’s.

This time, Flash FM is presented with two DJs. Differently from the previous one, in 1984, Toni was not the main DJ of this broadcasting station. She was a sidekick of the main DJ Terry two years before her promotion as a main DJ in the same broadcasting station.

Grand Theft Auto is a great game to give the players some insights on getting an idea on what 80’s pop music is like.

‘Vice City’ was not the only game with 80’s tunes. The party goes on again in Vice City’s sequel ‘Vice City Stories’. The game’s setting is 1984’s Vice City, two years before Vice City’s setting was taken.

‘Club Malibu’ is a venue that compressed all emblematic elements of 80’s hedonistic, yolo-ist, materialistic and freestyle lifestyle. By having this venue featured in the game, Rockstar Games turned this game’s fictional city into a believable one from the 80’s.

In Vice City, the fictional version of Miami, Florida, there is a bustling busy nightclub named ‘Club Malibu’. The non-stopping disco music is played there resonated along with blazing strobe balls surrounding the club interior.

Among the disco music, one of them is another 80’s hit “Sunglasses at Night” by Corey Hart. Players also can hear this track when they tune up to listen to ‘Wave 103 FM’, a radio station that plays a selection of disco music.

Vice City is a big city with several different radio stations serviced in the city. There are more than 7 radio stations featured in this game other than just Flash FM which I mentioned earlier.

Today, I will be speaking of another in-game featured 80’s music tune. That is late Michael Jackson’s all time hit “Billie Jean”. This is also a soundtrack from Flash FM in the list, presented by DJ Toni, the hedonistic lady.

Grand Theft Auto is a blockbuster hit in video game industry and this name of the franchise will live in legacy. Then it suddenly comes to my mind, make me ponder on what makes this game franchise greater than it is alreadly is. The featured soundtrack is what I believe that makes the game. For instance Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a game that takes the setting to the 1980’s fictional Miami City named Vice City. The game had done such a phenomenal job on the soundtrack of the game so that it can let the players inhale the 80’s vibe. I will zoom the focus on the featured songs of Vice City, licensed from numerous record labels.
